Early in my aviation career, I realized I wanted to start a business apart from becoming a pilot. Initially, I thought of starting a part 135 operation or a flight school, but I realized that it is not a very profitable venture after running some numbers and talking to owners at my local airport. Then, while working as an A&P, a fellow mechanic told me: "Alex, if you want to make money in aviation, get into aircraft sales." At the time, I didn't know anyone who was a broker, and I had no direction and no idea of where even to start. So I invested $5000 into a course to learn how to sell airplanes. After getting my first three clients, I realized I had wasted my time and money. They missed to teach me so many critical aspects of the sales process, which I wish I had known before I started.
